In port in Puerto Montt

Today was a lazy day in Puerto Montt, Chile. This was one of those ports where we had to tender in to shore. We spent some time off the ship this morning looking for a grocery store to pick up a few items we needed. I'll post some street photos below.

The most exciting thing we witnessed was a street fight where one guy was trying to attack another man with a knife, then an ax. The police finally broke it up and the guy in the white shirt went back to his produce table. But when they questioned him, he apparently became uncooperative and aggressive. It took several policemen, with the help of their barking and attacking canines, to get him handcuffed and into a police car. I have no idea what precipitated the attack.

  1. Oh my!! That WAS exciting! But back to the "groceries"--veggies look so good, but are you eating any of the local produce?

    1. No, some look tempting but we always eat on the ship. We've booked some excursions that will include meals, but have been advised not to eat anything that isn't cooked. The ship gives us all water bottles and advises us to take ship water when we're out and about. My doctor (who is Indian) even advised me that when we get to India, not to drink even the bottled water because she said they will re-fill/re-seal bottles with their own water!
