Sunday in Copenhagen, Denmark

We do enjoy travel but the one big thing we miss is church on Sundays - worshiping together and studying God's word with other believers and friends. When we were previously on Insignia, the ship had a Sunday morning service that we could attend. Different cruises have different cruise directors so when I asked our current director John about it, he apologized for having "dropped the ball." Anyway, we have enjoyed meeting some other Christians when seated together in the specialty restaurants at dinner.

I'm happy to say that we get to spend 2 days in Copenhagen which is Scandinavia's largest city. That means that we can be more leisurely today. That's especially good since we woke up to fog this morning and it even rained a bit during breakfast. So we're thinking we may just enjoy hanging around the ship today, or we may decide to get out for a bit later this afternoon. We'll see what the weather looks like a little later in the day.

In the meantime, I will look through our options and book one for tomorrow so at least we can see a little of Copenhagen. A couple of our excursions have been cancelled due to weather-related itinerary changes so we can book at least 2 more to make up for the ones we had to miss.

Speaking of John (our current cruise director), we and 2 other couples had dinner with he and another staff member Cella in the Dining Room the other night. John is from England and has worked his way up in the cruise industry to the role he has now. The first ship he served on was the one that the TV series Love Boat was filmed on.

Anyway, he and Cella started sharing some funny stories with us and the subject of weird questions they've been asked came up. We all got a chuckle out of the ones they shared, but I feel sure after decades in the cruise industry they could both come up with many more. I'll pass them along because I think they're worth a giggle.

What time is the 1 o'clock show?

What time will the whales come up?

Does the ship generate its own electricity?

Does the crew go home at night?

What time is the midnight buffet?

HAPPY SUNDAY!!

  1. Barb: You've had your share of rainy or foggy days on this trip. I think it makes for lovely photos. I have always wanted to go to Denmark...not sure why except as a child I heard Victor Borge the pianist/comedian talk about Danish people. And of course, I read lots of Hans Christian Anderson stories. When we travel on our own, we always go to a local church. Touring is not conducive to that anymore. I wonder what the people are doing on the little boats...maybe going fishing?

    1. I think we've really only had 2 days where the weather was just awful, but one of them we thankfully only had to get between the bus and the barn. ha! Today was the perfect day to stay in (some didn't and got wet!) since we'll be in port 2 days and we both kind of needed a "down" day to veg, do laundry and write (Ronnie). We had coffee in the lounge after dinner tonight and there were still quite a few sailboats in the sea. But we'll take the shuttle into the city tomorrow for a look around. :) PS Since you mention the Hans Christian Anderson stories, it now makes sense why The Little Mermaid is a famous landmark here!
