St Edwards is a Church of England Parish church here in Stow. It is one of several "wool churches" in this area, having been built with wealth earned from the sheep and wool trade. It dates all the way back to the 11th century! It is a mix of architectural styles because parts of it have been built over several centuries. Rather than trying to regurgitate what I'm reading, If anyone interested in knowing more about St Edwards and its long history click here.

St Edwards is located just off the main street in the Town Centre. Services are still held there, and I learned that the funeral of John Entwistle (bass player for The Who) was held in this church in 2002.
foggy morning at St Edwards |
Like all the old churches in England, it has an adjoining graveyard. One morning this week I hurried up to the church before I'd even had my first cup of coffee because I wanted to take some photos before the fog burned off. The Town Centre wasn't really awake yet and I'll confess it was a bit spooky being alone in a foggy graveyard!
