Kingham

If you've been reading, you know that Ronnie brought his bike over and has been riding with a group of guys at least once a week. They go all over the Cotswolds, and I do mean ALL! They actually rode almost all the way to Stratford Upon Avon (54 miles) today. Often after a ride, Ronnie wants to show me some of the things he saw so yesterday we took off in the direction of Kingham - a very beautiful little village only 7 miles from Stow.

always a view in the Cotswolds

Kingham's tour info describes it as "a beautiful unspoiled Cotswold village with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries it is situated in the Evenlode valley in Oxfordshire, England."

Kingham has a central park-like area, 1 shop, 1 (very expensive) pub, 2 (very expensive) hotels, a train station and the most upscale homes I've seen in the Cotswolds. I likened it to the River Oaks of Houston. It is unique among the other villages in that it has a mainline railroad station. People who work in London but don't want to live there can commute in by train.

I stopped to photograph a stone and thatch cottage, some dahlias in someone's yard and the parish church. Since this blog is all about photos, I'll quit talking and post some of my favorites.
