Hello friends and family!
Just a quick note to tell you that we’re still in the land of the living! We both have covid; however Ronnie is improving faster than I, or perhaps it’s just that he is several days ahead of me. I’m still pretty miserable with a stuffy head and overall body soreness from coughing. Ronnie is coughing too but thankfully has been able to sleep. We’re grateful for the medical attention we’ve received and that all of our needs are being met without anyone else being exposed.
Speaking of thankful, we’re very happy that we can go out onto our balcony for a change of scenery and some fresh air. Although there’s not much exciting to report from this small vantage point, I will post a few photos of what we saw of the two Brazilian cities we’ve been in these past 2 days. I want you to see how very beautiful the water is! The first photos are in Recife, Brazil (“R” is pronounced as an “H”) and the second group are as we pulled into port today in Natal, Brazil. I’m also including photos from our balcony of the ship’s crew doing a safety drill today.
It
is just after 4 pm today and we are once again at sea, headed for Fortaleza, Brazil.
Then 3 days at sea as we head toward Africa. Please say a prayer that we will
test negative soon so we can once again be out and about around the ship. Once out of quarantine, we'll be required to wear masks for 5 days on board the ship. We'll also be required not to share tables at mealtimes for 5 days, which (I think) is totally reasonable.
We so appreciate your prayers and we send our love to all of you.
Love,
Jan & Ronnie
PS If I don’t respond to a comment or email, just know it’s because our ship’s internet service is pathetic, especially in Brazil!coming into Recife |

Bharberts: I am so glad you reminded me of the R=H as a leading consonant. I used to work with Ricky Rios at Compaq. After spending several weeks in Sao Paolo and Campinas training people on SAP systems, we boarded our flight back to Houston. About 2 hours into the flight, he looks at me and says "You can call me Ricky again". After hearing "Hicky" for weeks, I had not noticed I was saying it too. I have heard many people love Recife. I would like to go there some day. Praying for you, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteLol! That's too funny, Barbara! Our cruise director's name is Ray and the Cruise Ambassador onboard is Cella. We've been calling them Hay and Hella! :) Thank you for your prayers - we both tested NEGATIVE today!! We were honestly shocked that we did, but we are thanking the Lord!! We have 3 sea days ahead so should be able to get lots of extra rest before we hit Africa. We're both exhausted so hitting the sack now.
DeleteHurrayyyy and heavy on the ‘H’😂 !!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news that you both tested negative!!! We all love you snd are thankful and relieved you both are over covid!
You are back onboard with sights to share and tales to tell. A picture of the life boat drill is the kind of behind the scenes photo that you capture that makes your trip so real.
Thank you Karen!! Today has been a much needed "down" day and I took a long nap this afternoon. We are definitely feeling better but not 100% so a few lazy sea days are exactly what we need! We are headed to Africa now!
