Another Day, Another Papaya.

friendly rice seller
Well, I went with my landlady to the market again. What can I say? It was pretty much a repeat of the last experience, except that this time I was better prepared for the sensory overload. Or maybe I should just say I was not as taken back by it. I bought a papaya. That was it. Flies on the fish and meat - un un.

But did I mention my landlady? And her daughter? They are super! Whatever we need, they are quick to take care of it. She has been so kind as to invite me to go walking with her too. She is one of the reasons we moved into De Hill Villa. Having a landlady who is kind and speaks English - nice! Oh, and did I tell you that she told me she's a Christian? A country with 90% Muslims, and we "happen to" rent from a Christian. Like I said...nice!!

  1. I'm glad it seems most people like getting their picture taken and sometimes even ham it up for a pose! Your kind of audience! :)

  2. So where are you purchasing the food you eat? Have you found any place that sells fly-free food? Loved seeing the pictures, but worried about the food safety!

  3. Yes, we have found fly free food at Setiabudhi, our local supermarket. It took me less than half a nanosecond to realize that I won't be eating any meat from that place! The only thing I've purchased there is the papaya. Even though I washed and peeled it myself, I'm still thinking about where it came from when I'm eating it... :(
