Actually, it's hard to know when Fall arrives in Stow-on-the-Wold. I've been wondering about it for some time. Weeks ago the beautiful Virginia Creeper that covers large portions of many of the cottages and fences began to turn from bright green to deep red. But it's still hard to realize that Fall is actually here when the weather is warm and the roses, fuchsia, snapdragons, dahlias and hollyhocks are still blooming. However, this past week I've had to admit that most of these are not as gorgeous as they were even a week ago (excepting fuchsia, which is bursting with blooms and loads of color).
Most of our days here we've had to do no more than wear a light jacket on our outings but these last couple of days have been more what I would consider coat weather - cold (by my thin-bloodied self) and damp and today even rain. Fall is surely here now. Hope you enjoy some of the photos I've snapped over these past few weeks.
Almost every stone fence along the country roads is covered with berry vines, and the berries are ripe now. I'm surprised that we never see anyone picking them. Rose hips are colorful and vary in size and shape.
