If I had to sum up this island, I would just say that it's home to the rich and famous. We visited this island Christmas 2024 on our 10 day cruise on this same ship.

I must have come down with something last evening. I didn't get much sleep last night so I took a long nap this morning. I don't feel as bad as yesterday but since I've done the touristy thing here before, I opted to stay on the ship, which was perfectly fine with Ronnie since we were just here a little over a year ago. His former boss from Compaq lives on a nearby island (St. Martens) which we can see from the ship.
My day has been restful. Ronnie ran this morning, enjoyed a really good burger along with his Dr. Pepper at noon and just returned from a putting contest in the sporting area where they have putting greens and a miniature golf range. There are all sorts of onboard activities that you can collect "Big O" points from. At the end of the cruise, you can cash in your points for Oceania merchandise.
Once again, we'll miss a specialty dining meal tonight because I'm still wearing what I flew to Miami in. Hopefully they will let us re-schedule the reservations we're having to miss. But truthfully, I don't feel like dressing and going to dinner anyway.
There is no large cruise ship dock here so the larger ships anchor off shore and tender in. The water is very still today but sometimes the tender ride is an experience in itself! You will see many large yachts resting offshore. The photos below are from our balcony. Since I didn't get off the ship today, I'll include a link to my post from our previous visit to give you an idea of what St. Barts is really like.

We hope you get well soon, Jan! Bobby didn’t remember where this cruise goes so every post will be a fun surprise for us!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol! It's kind of a fun surprise for me as well (although I do have a copy of our itinerary). Many of the stops we'll make are places I've never even heard of. Ronnie will miss his lunches with Bobby (and the BBQ)! Be sure and tell Bobby that Ronnie recognized Verne Lundquist on our excursion yesterday, and show him the photo I took!
DeleteEnjoying living “vicariously” through your travels. What a bummer not to have luggage and your own stuff! I’d be acting tacky! Note to self: pack extra underwear, meds and make up in carryon!
ReplyDeleteFor sure extra underwear and makeup! I wouldn't even have that except that I knew we were spending the first night in Miami so I had an extra change of clothes and toiletries in my carry on. We never "cross pack" with some of our stuff in each other's bags, but this would have been a time to have done that! Ronnie actually had some clothes in his bag where my checked piece contained my "stash" (products I use that I know I can't find in other places), plus aerosols, liquids and other items that I couldn't send with Luggage Forward.
