This morning I was surprised to learn that there would be a country fair on deck today. Wait! I thought a country fair meant animals, judges doling out blue ribbons, stalls and tents selling crafts and wares and farm produce. Perhaps even a few rides and a carnival atmosphere. How can you pull off a country fair on the deck of a cruise ship? Well, for sure it wasn't a traditional one, but they gave it their best shot.
Different departments on the ship set up and manned their own booths. Some were better than others, but again, one is limited by what they can do while at sea. All things considered, I think they did a good job! And it was nice seeing the crew enjoying it as much as the guests.
Each booth gave tickets for playing (number of tickets depended on your score) and at the end, tickets were drawn and those with winning numbers were gifted with Oceania merchandise like beach bags, fanny packs, sunscreens, glass models of the Vista, etc. A live band added to the party atmosphere and the weather was warm and windy - perfect for a country fair!
