We've had a nice day in sunny/hot San Juan. We were in no rush to get off the ship this morning so Ronnie was able to exercise while I did whatever it was I did. ha! We decided earlier to have lunch on the ship before heading out, so we tried out a new ultra-healthy restaurant on board that we haven't eaten at before (Aquamar Kitchen). I had some kind of falafel/pita/yogurt thing (it was ok) and Ronnie had a very healthy chicken sandwich. I also had a green matcha strawberry something that tasted and smelled like freshly mowed grass. Ronnie impressed me by drinking a mango/passion fruit something that was somewhat sour, then ate a plant based vanilla ice cream for dessert. The best part of both meals was the sweet potato fries which I would definitely order again. So I was proud of us for branching out. 😋
This afternoon we took the short walk into the Old Town of colorful San Juan. We found a post office, picked up a few items at Walgreens and walked around a few streets so that I could snap some photos. Being right next to the port, the old part of the city is quite touristy and caters to the port visitors. It was 84 degrees and hot so we tried to walk mostly in the shade. After returning to the ship Ronnie took a quick nap and I played with my photos.
We dine in the Red Ginger restaurant tonight so now I must hop in the shower and get dressed for dinner. Being old, we usually eat dinner around 6 p.m. at home, but 6:30 is the earliest seating on the ship. In order to get a 6:30 dinner reservation, we agree to share a table. We really don't mind, however because it's a great way to get to know some of the other guests on the ship. Amazingly, we've spotted a few people who were on the World Cruise with us in 2023.
I'm posting some of my favorite shots from today. Hopefully they will show what a colorful town San Juan is.
