Was I surprised when I woke this morning and pulled back the curtain! A very different view from what we've seen the last few mornings.
We hadn't planned for an excursion today so I called down to Destination Services only to learn that the only outing still available included approximately 4.5 hours with a lot of walking and zip lining. Also, the high here is 84 degrees today, so we were both in agreement to just enjoy a relaxing day on the ship.
Ronnie ran 3 miles on the deck this morning and I actually walked on the treadmill while reading my book. Afterwards Ronnie did the laundry at the free launderette on our deck. We could have sent it out (complimentary) but it would take 3 days so we nixed that idea. So it's been a Christmas movie, book reading and Washington, DC trip planning kind of a day.
We had a window table at noon and I will say that the view from the opposite side of the ship is much more beautiful. Both water and sky are very blue!

This afternoon I attended another Instagram class to help me remember what I learned a couple of days ago (!) and tonight we enjoyed dinner in the Polo Grill. A10-day cruise includes eating in each of the 4 specialty restaurants on board. Two we are very familiar with from previous cruises on the Insignia, but the other 2 are brand new to us.
Even though we didn't see any of the island other than through our windows, I'll go ahead a share a line or two from today's Current's newsletter.
St. Lucia is the sort of island that travelers dream about: A small, lush, tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. One of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it is located midway down the Eastern Caribbean chain, between Martinique and St. Vincent and North of Barbados. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with a shape that is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado. It goes on to say "the natural rain forest is broken only by verdant fields and orchards of banana, coconut, mango and papaya trees." The Current also talked about its history, but this is just some general information about St. Lucia.
I do feel a little bit bad about coming to a place I've never been before (and will likely never be again) and staying on the ship, but there's also something to be said for just enjoying a restful day aboard a beautiful ship, even if it is docked!
