My last post was getting long, so I'll add a few more photos from yesterday's visit to Surabaya. As I've said before, my favorite genres of photography are travel and people. I love seeing how people in other countries live, and I love snapping photos of people going about their daily lives.
Unfortunately, on these short visits, I get to spend very little if any time just walking around among them. So I'm constrained to taking most photos through a moving bus or car window. Most are blurry and will get deleted, but occasionally if travel slows I can grab a few window shots that aren't too bad. They wouldn't win any photo contest, but they hopefully they can provide a tiny glimpse of what life is like in other places.
So here are a few from yesterday in no particular order - just car window shots.

Barbara: I love these photos. It is a great depiction of Asian cities. How many people fit on a motorcycle? And they carry cargo around and wear sandals and no helmets. The electronics store photo is funny! And the fruit looks like the Garden of Eden, doesn't it. My HEB looks pretty beige and pale in comparison. I'll get they have good coffee there.
ReplyDeleteYes, we've seen as many as 5 people on 1 scooter - and the stuff they try to carry! I saw one guy carrying 4 tires this time. And HUGE stuff!! We've also seen them carrying dogs, goats, birds in cages - you name it. These pictures aren't truly representative but the best I could do from the back seat of a car. Ronnie saw a lot of photo-worthy stuff I didn't see because he's taller than me and wasn't sitting behind the driver. And you'd really need heat, sounds and smells to make these scenes even begin to come alive. =)
