Today
we find ourselves back in Montevideo. Since leaving Rio, we have sailed a total
of 1,417 nautical miles. We had a segment change in Buenos Aires yesterday which means that a
lot of passengers got off and a whole new group of passengers got on. So we
sailed back to Montevideo where we spent today before we begin heading for The Falkland
Islands tonight. So here's where we've been the past 13 days. Hope this is readable.
On a different topic, did
you know that cat cafes are a thing? We’ve talked about visiting one in several
different places but for various reasons just haven’t done it. But today was a
good day to do that so we took an uber to the Cafelina Café & Adoption
Center which was only about a mile from the cruise port. https://cafelino.uy/
We had eaten lunch on
the ship before we left so we weren’t at all hungry, but we were required to make
a purchase in order to go in and pet the cats. Having just eaten, we asked if
we could just purchase a drink and the guy was fine with that. I will say, though, that the food looked good!

Some cat cafes have
a separate fee to get in, then an additional amount for so many minutes to play
with the kitties. Most of the cafes also offer them up for adoption. Cat cafes
are usually quite pricey because the proceeds not only support the business but
take care of the cats needs as well (and if you own a pet these days, you know
that is not cheap)! So we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to stay
as long as we pleased without having to eat.

I
also liked the way the cats had their own room. An employee was there to let us
in and out in order to prevent any escapes. Also the glass separated the cat-themed
eating area from the cat’s play room. I love this concept! It’s a great way
to meet cats, bust some stress and determine if they’re a good fit for a potential owner.

What did Puddy have to say about all that?
ReplyDeleteoh, you know he had plenty! ;-)
Delete--to think that THE MAN would even hold another puddy!
Deleteno, actually he's ok with it. just no d-words!
DeleteBarbara:I know you love birds so much, I am surprised you like their chief predators! This made me wonder if people take pets on long cruises like yours. I remember you thought the Falklands were ugly and kind of dirty last time. Let's see what you think this time.
ReplyDeleteI do love birds, but I'm a cat person at heart, and Ronnie has converted as well. We haven't had one in many years because of the need to keep a cat-free zone for family members who are allergic!
DeleteGreg, Shelley and Samy are so allergic. One grandson and wife have 3 cats and a dog and we cannot go to their home...we have to meet them elsewhere. And Samy even gets hives when he hugs his brother... I had Siamese cats when I lived on Okinawa, because there were lots of mice and rats and even snakes. They kept my house and yard well managed. Growing up we had barn cats and porch cats. Course we had dogs and an occasional pig on the porch too. Dad said people dumped their pets at our place because he and Mom had soft hearts.
DeleteMeeting in a neutral location sounds like a good plan, unless they will be staying for several days. Cats get a bad rap as being mean or whatever, but they can be every bit as loving and sweet as a dog!
