Lighting up the ship

One can't help but notice the light fixtures as they travel around the ship. Vista's overall decor is modern, and its furnishings certainly reflect that. And of course they have to be to scale for the space they're in. I think whoever selected the lighting for this ship must have been having a fun time. However, I'm sure that having to clean them wouldn't be nearly as much fun!

Today is a sea day so there's not a lot to talk about. So perhaps this is a good day to just share photos of lighting fixtures I've snapped around the ship. Truthfully, these photos don't begin to do any of them justice.

We haven't been able to eat in any of the specialty restaurants on board yet, so I can't share any of those fixtures, so the ones below are just from the regular areas of the ship.

Perhaps some day I'll snap pictures of some of the many paintings around the ship. Some are so "modern" I think I could have painted them myself, and I can't even draw a decent stick figure!

  1. Barbara: Fascinating! I guess they have all been refitted to LED lights and can be controlled by systems computers. Our grand-daughter-in-law is a design engineer for commercial spaces. Currently her company has her working on the KC Chiefs "Locker Room" and the UT field house. She mostly calculates all the systems for AC, Heat and Ventilation...but she also has worked on lighting huge spaces. She is amazing! Most of us take lighting for granted....but not you, Jan. You see the beauty and uniqueness in the details. Your nature photos always make me catch my breath. You bless me with your attention to the things I rarely notice.

  2. aww....Barbara, you keep me on my toes! You must be so proud of your granddaughter-in-law. She sounds like a very smart girl!! And I'll bet she loves what she's doing. I'll bet that's some "locker room!" I'm sure you're right about all LED lights. This ship is only 3 years old, so no re-fitting necessary!
